Making The Decision To Study
When you want to begin studying for a new qualification you are faced with a number of choices, and one of them is where to study. Should you go to a local college or stay in the comfort of your own home?
We recommend that you choose home study for some very simple reasons. First, there's the important fact that you stay in control of your study time and your learning environment and can go at your own pace. This means you are free to fit study time in with family needs. Whereas, if you enrol at a local college, you will have to fit in with their timetables and term times. You'll have to work at their pace, not your own.
Second, there's the equally important fact that studying at home is less stressful. Your Home Learning College tutors will always be on hand to help out should you need them, but you won't have anyone looking over your shoulder whilst you're working. And, it is a recognised fact that you will learn more easily if you are happy and relaxed whilst you're studying.
Get the timing right
We all have preferred times of day to study. Some people tend to learn more easily in the morning while others are night-owls who prefer to stay up later to work when the house is quiet. If you choose home study you can do whichever suits you best.
Start and finish your course when it suits you
Most college courses start each September, but when you study at home you can begin your course whenever it suits you. You can take your time to learn in small steps - or you can devote more time to it to finish earlier and get on with looking for your new job.
Stay in control
When you study as an adult, you may sometimes find that the family's needs have to come before your studies. But when you are studying at home, you can easily put your family first and set your studies aside for a while. Go back to them when things settle down and resume exactly where you left off. You won't find that the rest of the class has left you behind, and there won't be anyone to criticise you for being late with your homework or not completing an assignment on time! By staying in control of your studies and working with your Course Tutor, you will find it easy to remain motivated and committed to success.
